Oregon County Fairs, various dates Oregon
fairs have been an important expression of our culture and
heritage even before statehood in the mid-1800s. Witness the
achievements of Oregon's outstanding youth as they show
their animals, display their craft, and provide
presentations and demonstrations. Learn from industry
experts on everything from photography to gardening. Share
your mutual enthusiasm for a hobby or craft with a fellow
Oregonian. And, while browsing the exhibits you may find a
family member or neighbor proudly displaying a blue ribbon
entry. If you have the stomach for it, there are thrills and
screams in the carnival. But everyone has a favorite
fair-food and there is a mouth-watering treat to meet the
needs of every palette. So visit YOUR Oregon
fair this year. Better yet, participate in the
fair. It could be a talent or skill you find rewarding or
maybe it's a group activity the whole family can get
involved in. Experience the BEST OF OREGON this summer
at an Oregon fair. Check out this year's

Best Contests!

Food, Culture, & Justice: The Gumbo That Unites Us All, October
16-19, 2010
Register by August 13 for the Early
Registration discount
In New Orleans, food is used to
make a cultural connection uniting urban farmers, food banks,
fishers, faith-based organizations, and others as they work towards
social justice. At Food, Culture, & Justice: The Gumbo That Unites
Us All, you will have the opportunity to see first-hand the unique
regional and multi-cultural approach to food organizing taking place
in New Orleans.
This is not a conference to just stay in the
hotel and never go outside. We’re offering many opportunities for
you to explore the area through long lunch breaks, an off-site
reception, cooking classes, walking tours, and numerous
pre-conference field trips to destinations in New Orleans and
throughout the Gulf Coast Region.
But don’t worry–we’ll
still have insightful plenaries and workshops to inspire and educate
you about the best of the food security movement. Session topics
will include rebuilding local food economies, ending poverty and
increasing food access, outcomes of the US Social Forum,
environmental justice, public health links, food policy councils,
urban agriculture, and more. We’re also providing ample
opportunities for networking through topic-specific networking
sessions, forums and CFSC committee meetings.
For details,
visit the conference website,

announcements like this one in your inbox, join CFSC's Conference
